Our Mission
Our mission is to collect, categorize, and preserve articles and items related to the history of the Headingley. We strive for full public access to our research, artifacts and photographs.
Through this robust website, anyone has the opportunity to relive our community's past with us, no matter where they find themselves in the present.
Our History
Headingley was established in 1880 and was named after the town of Headingley in Yorkshire, England. The community was incorporated as a rural municipality in 1915. The first person to settle in the area was John Taylor, who arrived in 1871 and built a log cabin near the Assiniboine River.
Headingley, Manitoba may be a small community, but it offers a wealth of attractions and natural wonders that make it a must-visit destination for tourists. From the John Blumberg Softball Complex to the Headingley Grand Trunk Trail, there is something for everyone in this hidden gem of Canada.

How HHSI Was Founded
The Headingley Historical Society Inc. was founded and incorporated as a non-profit organization in July 1996 by a group of four Headingley residents who were interested in preserving and documenting Headingley's history.
Some of our founding members are still active today, as are their relatives. Together, we work to preserve Headingley's heritage by submitting writings, photos, documents, artifacts and recordings relating to our local history.
This site continues to enhance our understanding of past and current events that shape our community.
